Visiting Cards are also known by another name which is calling cards. History says that visiting cards were first seen in China in the fifteenth century and later on in Europe in the seventeenth century. They have been created with the purpose of making the prospective hosts knowing the arrival of the owner of the card. These cards were first delivered to the servants of the hosts by the footmen of the aristocrats and the royalty.

These cards serve as the sole evidence of dispensing with social obligations. In the earlier days the standard Visiting Card was of a plain card which had only the name of the owner. Most cards also had the name of the persons club added to it.

Various types of cards are available in the market. They range from simple cards, plastic coated and pearl finish cards. In todays world innovation is the word in the market. Hence graphics is also used to make the cards more attractive though some might consider them to be a trifling bit of paper.

A good looking card should include: Your Picture, Your Website, Your Social Networks, Traditional Contact Info, Your Logo, Your Tagline, Color, It should be Printed on Both Sides, Do Not use a Glossy Finish.

In the end we can say that the uses of Business Cards are: portability, customized look, they are inexpensive than webpage. and are long lasting and permanently relevant. They outweigh the disadvantages. It is because of this reason that Business Cards are no longer the right of the upper middle class and middle class people. The business card is now a symbol of dignity, sense of pride and an effective yet cost effective tool for marketing.
